An Legends Global Volunteer is a dedicated and committed individual who enriches the lives of others in the community by serving as an ambassador and playing a vital role in the operation of our venues, Altria Theater and Dominion Energy Center.

Volunteer Ushers

Volunteer Ushers enjoy interacting with the public, are willing to assist in an emergency, and have a passion for the performing arts! Ushers join us before the performance begins and stay throughout the show to scan tickets, distribute programs, assist guests to their seats, and answer questions. We encourage friends, family, and colleagues to volunteer together!

Volunteer Usher Responsibilities

  • Commit to 2 shifts per month, or more
  • Arrive 90+ minutes before a performance to assist with pre-show preparation and attend Usher meeting
  • Interact with and proactively approach patrons
  • Assist the House Manager with various duties, including emergencies
  • Utilize email to manage scheduling and communicate with House Managers

* Please note: All communication is done via email. Familiarity with and access to a computer to manage schedules is essential. A direct phone number is also required in case of schedule changes or cancellations.

Volunteer Usher Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age or older
  • Navigate and climb stairs
  • Stand for long periods of time
  • Read and scan tickets
  • Work in semi-darkness
